Karen Gaspers is a freelance writer addicted to the weekend car trip. Having grown up in Nebraska, then lived in Chicago and Birmingham, Ala., she’s been able to see a good chunk of the United States from the front seat of her Honda. She recently moved to Maryland’s Eastern Shore, where in nine months she’s managed to pack her family off to Jamestown, Virg.; Washington, D.C.; Baltimore; and Philadelphia. She has written for regional and national magazines, including Parents, Parenting and Massage Therapy Journal. She is currently saving her “pennies” for a trip to Swaziland.
