Born in California and raised in northern New Jersey, Sue Douglass Fliess considers herself an open-minded Jersey Girl. Her first job out of college was as a publicist for Putnam Berkley Publishing (now Penguin Group) in Manhattan, after which she moved to the Bay Area with her husband. She spent nearly a decade working her way up from advertising copywriter to director of marketing at various communications and technology companies.
In 2003, Fliess took a break from the rat-race to start her own rugrat-race at home and is the mother of two young boys. She also has been a freelance contributor to Education.com, and is an artist and aspiring children’s book author: She currently is penning a young-adult novel. Fliess recently received honors from the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators for one of her picture-book manuscripts. In her spare time she loves to travel with her family, plays in a local tennis league and is training for a marathon.
