Known as the “Birthplace of the American Industrial Revolution,” Pawtucket is home to the first cotton-spinning mill, built in1793 by Samuel Slater. Pawtucket’s ideal location on the Blackstone River and the tidewaters of the Narragansett Bay in northwest Rhode Island enabled blacksmiths and textile workers to harness its waterpower since the late 1600s. Today, Pawtucket is home to a successful minor league baseball team, the Pawtucket Red Sox and a burgeoning arts community that has bolstered the local economy in recent years. The Gamm Theatre, the Community Players and the Pawtucket Arts Festival are just a few of Pawtucket’s cultural arts attractions.
Minor league baseball games offer affordable family fun, especially with deals, discounts and eccentric entertainment specials available in several markets across the country.
