Built in the early 1900s in Bodie, which is now a ghost town, this restaurant was moved in its entirety during the 1980s to its present location overlooking Mono Lake; and its history moved with it. Open only from May through October, the restaurant seats just 24 people inside, but when the weather is fine (as it usually is), there is plenty of outdoor seating. The menu changes weekly. For breakfast, expect bacon, eggs, sausage and your choice of omelets with fresh ingredients. Dinner is outstanding, with unusual entrees such as Alpers Smoked Trout. There is a good wine list, and the breads are baked daily on the premises.
